Shiva On Mount Kailash

Bharadwaj Muni was totally immersed in the story of Shiv and Parvati. He wanted Yagyavalk to carry on with the tale. He was enjoying the story-telling himself. Yagyavalk told Bharadwaj that those who did not have love for Shiva, Ram did not like them, even in his dreams. So to be a Ram bhakta/devotee one had to be a follower of Shiva.

Prathmahin Mahn Kahi Shiv Charitra Boojha Maramu Tumhaar

Suni Sevak Tum Ram Kay Rahit Samast Vikaar

Yagyavalk Muni told Bharadwaj that he had already understood his secret. He was a true Ram bhakta and had absolutely no faults.

Then Yagyavalk asked Bharadwaj to start listening to the story of Ram. He said that it was not an easy story to tell, because it was no ordinary tale, it was very deep and millions of mouths would not be able to do it justice. Any how, he said that he would tell him what he had heard with the help of Saraswati who was merely a puppet in the hands of the main puppeteer Ram. Whoever He considered His Bhakta He blessed that poet and made Saraswati dance in his or her heart. It is my fervent hope that just as Yagyavalk prayed to Ram and was blessed, my prayers will be answered and my humble attempt will be successful!

Shiva and Parvati resided on the most beautiful and the king of all mountains Mount Kailash.
Lots of good souls like ascetics, rishis, Munis and Devtas came in droves to serve the couple. Those people who did not love Shiva and Vishnu could not even dream of going there. An ancient and huge Banyan tree which gave shade to all, in all the six seasons bloomed there. A soothing cool breeze forever blew and Shiva loved to relax under that tree. Even the Vedas have mentioned that tree and sung it's praises.

Once upon a time Shiva came and with joy in his heart placed a deer skin on the ground and sat under the shade of the Banyan tree. His skin glowed. He had long eyelashes and wore pale yogic coloured garb. His feet were spread out like a flower in the river and his toenails emitted so much light as if it would expel all darkness. Snakes and Vibhuti (sacred ash) were his only ornaments but his face was very bright. With dreadlocks and Ganga on his head, his eyes were big as a lotus flower, his neck was blue. He looked extremely handsome with the half crescent moon on his forehead.

Seeing Shiva in this picture of calmness Parvati took this opportunity to sit beside him. She started remembering her past life. Knowing that her husband loved her more than ever, she smiled at him. Perhaps Yagyavalk said here that she wanted to hear that story that was for the good of all mankind. JAI Ho!
