Daksha Holds A Yagya

To satisfy his inflated ego, Daksha arranged for a yagya ( holy ritual involving chanting of mantras by the fire ) in which all the high priests, munis. Devtas, basically the elite of the heavens and earth were invited. Bramha, Vishnu and Mahesh (the trinity) got a share from this festivity as part of the ritual.
Well, while Tripurari (Shiva ) was narrating stories to Sati, she saw all this action in the sky. She saw colorful small crafts with Devatas and their wives in glorious attire. The heavens were resounding with beautiful music and the air was electric. Upon inquiring, she found out that her father was organizing this yagya where everybody was invited to buther husband, Mahesh (Shiva). He was the only one, who was not invited from the trinity.
As Sati was already quite upset for being abandoned by Shiva, she thought that it would be a nice break for her to visit her father's house. She asked Shiva's permission if she could go. Shiva advised her that one can go to their Swami's, friend's, father's place uninvited but on this particular instance, when your father is holding a huge function and inviting friends and relatives but not inviting her, because he had a bone to pick with her husband then, it would be better not to go. Sati insisted upon going, even though Shiva had this inkling that something was not right. So after much debate, Shiva sent some of his attendants (garns) along with Sati to take care of her.
Sati reached her father's place where she was welcomed by her mother, her other sisters were pleased to see her but she got the cold shoulder from her father. When she went to the Mandap
( place for Pooja and fire) she saw that there was no share of Shiva even though no Yagya would be complete without him. The fact that her husband had made a vow of celibacy had not made Sati as upset as this insult by her father. Now she was outraged, her body shook with anger when she addressed the patrons. She said that it was not right what they had done and they all would be condemned including her father, Daksha

As she could not bear this humiliation of her and her husband, she found no reason to live anymore. Her mother begged her to be calm but Sati considered jumping in the holy fire and make it her funeral pyre!!
At this point their was pandemonium, the attendants of Shiva ruined the Yagya and every one fled. This tale shall continue, be patient.
Today's lesson for RamRajya: Sometimes it is better not to visit close friends and family, uninvited, even your own parent's home. What do you think? We might save ourselves some grief! JAI HO!
