Different Avatars of Shri Hari

Shri Hari has two doormen by the name of Jai and Vijai who because of a Brahmin's (Sankaadi muni) curse were born as demons in their next life . Then one's name was Hiranyakashyapu and the other's name was Hiranyaksha. They are both known for taking care of Lord Indra's ego. They were both great warriors. Finally Bhagwan in one Avatar as Varaha (boar) killed Hiranyaksha and in another Avatar as Narsing (half man, half lion) he killed Hiranyakashapu and therefore established the name of his devotee Prahlad. Later on these two after defeating the Devtas in war, became the greatest warrior Rakshas of all, Ravan and Kumbhkaran.

Even though Haranyaksha and Hirankashyapu were slain by Bhagwan/God they did not attain Mukti because of the curse of a Brahmin which was for three lives. Hence for the good of them, Bhagwan who loves his bhaktas had to take another Avatar. This time Kashyap was his father and his mother's name was Aditi who were popularly known as Dasharath and Kaushilya and he performed all kinds of daily adventures/leelas in one Kalp (one era).

In another kalp, Shivji saw the Devtas in great distress after being defeated in war by another demon by the name of Jalandhar. He waged a huge war against the demon but to no avail. Jalandhar's wife was a pious, devoted woman that even Shivji could not defeat and kill her husband. In that Avatar, Bhagvan/God, tricked the wife so that he could complete the work of the Devtas. When the wife came to know that God had tricked her she got very angry and cursed God himself. The master of adventures, God, took upon the curse willing. That Jalandhar was born as Ravan in another kalp whom Ramchandra killed and gave the highest place in heaven.

So this was another reason why Ram took human form, Yagyavalk muni told Bharadwaj. In this manner, lots of poets have written about the different avatars. JAI HO!
